Overview

PC based system for training Forward Air Controllers based on The Fighter Collection Simulation Engine (TFCSE).

Environment

  • 4 seasons - reflecting changes in colour and foliage.
  • Any time of day or night.
  • Alterable weather conditions: cloud, fog, haze, rain, snow, temperature and wind.

Terrain

  • Currently 100,000 sq. km in the Crimea and Caucasus region, offering a wide range of terrain types (sea level swamps to >5'000 m mountains) enabling a large variety of training environments.
  • Terrain from any part of the world and to any level of detail can be developed in a short time frame.
  • Ability for the user to add any type of objects to the terrain.

Pilot view

  • Currently nine flyable aircraft (A-10A, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, MiG-29, Su-25, Su-25T, Su-33, Ka-50) with more under development (F-16, F/A-18).
  • Aircraft can be set to fly profiles on autopilot, allowing the FAC student or instructor to appreciate the pilot's view without the concern of having to fly the aircraft.
  • Pilot refresher capability for avionics and weapons delivery training.

FAC view

  • The FAC can be positioned anywhere and is fully mobile.
  • The FAC has use of mil-binoculars, range finder, laser designator, and IR.

Network capability

  • Up to 32 workstations can be networked for a combination of Instructor, Pilot and FAC positions, or up to eight workstations can be linked over the internet.
  • The instructor can view any student's screen for after action review.
  • Each training session can be recorded, edited and commented for analysis in post-mission debriefing.
  • Any mission flown can be exported and edited to video for computer aided enhancement of the classroom syllabus.

Battle environment, mission planning

  • Any type of FAC mission can be created by the Instructor.
  • Indirect fire can be introduced during mission planning.
  • For scaled complexity, adjustable skill levels and missile effectiveness for AI aircraft, vehicles and defence systems is available.

Hardware

  • The system operates on readily available consumer PCs or Notebooks of an appropriate specification.
  • The Instructor, Pilot or FAC view can be on screen or can be projected to partial dome or spilt to separate screens.
  • Optional head movement sensor is available for each workstation.
